A Supernatural Tradition Twinkles in the Horizon

This mood & mystique morsel contains 31 micro fictions, each in fifty-five words or less. It is an intent-driven work of fiction for the sole purpose of creating the unnerving atmosphere that each night in October demands.

“Well said words have the power to uplift, tear down, strengthen, and impress. But words said in October will inevitably conjure a spellcasting fest.”

Midnights in October is a fun read

Midnights in October is a fun read. The cover is amazing and very inviting. If I saw the book on a shelf at a store, I would pick it up and start to read it. I really enjoy the rarely used words in each section. It is fun to look up the definitions of these words. Midnights in October is well written. I highly recommend this book if one is interested spending a few minutes with each section. Well done to Patricia Bossano. I look forward to reading her next book.

dripping with literary magic

Midnights in October isn’t just a collection; it’s an invocation. In fifty-five-word fables that hum with energy, mysticism, and transformation Bossano has literally bottled October’s heartbeat. It’s eerie, intelligent, and dripping with that literary magic that readers crave this time of year... they'll sit under candlelight, read it, and whisper “damn” after each last line.

eerie elegance and poetic brevity

Bossano’s language is poetic and tightly coiled. She combines folkloric figures, witchcraft rituals, political ghosts, and personal hauntings, often using a single turn of phrase to transform the ordinary into something suspenseful. Themes of power, revenge, love, memory, and transformation run through the thirty-one entries with impressive restraint. Midnights in October isn’t meant to be devoured in one sitting. It is best read as intended: night by night. Fans of gothic and supernatural fiction who enjoy the eerie elegance of Neil Gaiman or the poetic brevity of Edgar Allan Poe will be drawn to this collection’s haunting rhythm. Readers who relish atmospheric storytelling, dark folklore, and witchy October moods will find these nightly vignettes very enjoyable.

Dark and Emotional

"Midnights in October" by Patricia Bossano is a must read for all poetry lovers. This small collection of poems is like having Hamlet, Shakespeare, and Edgar Allan Poe all in one room. Each poem has a different vibe. Some are dark and emotional. They speak of justice, woe, and bravery. Every page has a unique flavor. Words are not wasted. Titles perfectly fit each poem. Patricia Bossano once more has lit a poetic fire in this reader. Her talent ever shining and gives a thirst for more reads. I cannot wait to see what she delivers next. I highly recommend this quick but well-written collection to all.
